Brazilian artist Alyson Carvalho is a prominent figure in the contemporary art scene, whose work is rooted in deep philosophical, literary, historical, and anthropological research. His practice is not confined to a single medium but is an articulated, multidisciplinary investigation into the human condition.
In his creative process, Carvalho becomes both the object and the tool. He deconstructs everyday materials—sugar, wire, fabrics, and paint—and reassembles them, associating their physical properties with complex psychological and emotional characteristics. This transformative act allows him to explore the nuances of identity and perception, effectively camouflaging the self to reveal a deeper truth.

"In the end, a portrait is a reflection, a mirror, a struggle, and a return."
Alyson Carvalho por Rafael Bastos
